From Norfolk to National Recognition!

STC News

We’ve got some seriously exciting news to share – our very own Diss RFC Vixens have been named one of the winners of the Telegraph Media Group Honda Rugby Legacy Fund! 🎉 Out of more than 400 clubs across the UK, the Vixens were picked as one of just 15 winners – and we couldn’t be prouder to be their official Technical Kit Partner.

Why this is such a big deal

The Honda Rugby Legacy Fund is all about supporting the future of women’s and girls’ rugby. Each winning club gets a grant to help grow the game in their community – and the Vixens received the top award of £3,000. 💰

For a club in rural Norfolk, that money is going to make a massive difference. The Vixens are using it to:

  • Keep rugby accessible – covering kit, travel and essentials so that finances never stop someone picking up a ball.
  • Upgrade facilities – think better floodlights and equipment to meet the growing demand.
  • Smash barriers – showing that rugby really is a sport for everyone, no matter your background.

And let’s be honest – seeing our kits on players who might otherwise have missed out? That’s exactly why we love being part of this journey.

A day to remember

The celebrations weren’t just about the funding – they came with some unforgettable extras. Club reps joined winners from across the UK for a fun training session with World Cup legend Maggie Alphonsi, plus a panel discussion with Philippa Tuttiett (former Wales international), all hosted by Nick Heath, the voice of women’s rugby.

Not your average Sunday afternoon!

“Rugby is for everybody”

Head coach Jazmin Wones summed up what this all means perfectly:

“If there’s any financial hardship, we want to use the grant to support those players with kits, travel funds and things like that so that rugby is for everybody and accessible to everybody.”

That’s what makes the Vixens special – it’s not just about winning games, it’s about creating a club where everyone feels they belong.

Why we’re so proud

Every club has the potential to be more than just a team – Diss Vixens are becoming a movement. They’re building pathways where there were none, keeping girls in the game, and proving that Norfolk rugby has a huge future.

As their kit partner, seeing them step onto the pitch looking like a team is one thing. But watching them step onto the national stage and get the recognition they deserve? That’s something else entirely.

What’s next?

With this support from Honda and the Telegraph, the Vixens are set to grow faster, reach further, and inspire even more players. We’re buzzing to be part of the ride – and this is only the beginning.

So here’s to the Diss Vixens – building a legacy, breaking barriers, and looking sharp while doing it.
