Having first experienced wheelchair basketball during his time at the University of Bath, Alex Johnson, Co-Founder of Nova Sports, established Bath Romans Wheelchair Basketball Club in 2019 having identified that there were no opportunities for people to play the sport in and around the Bath area.
Whilst the club was originally formed as an adult team, it only took two years before there was enough demand for a youth section. With the adult team competing in the English Welsh Wheelchair Basketball League, the youth teams play friendly fixtures against other local teams. Club membership stands at nearly fifty people with some players travelling up to one hour to train and play.
In 2023, the club’s ladies’ team was in need of a new playing kit, and it was here that Alex discovered STC as he looked online for a new supplier. From the outset, Alex’s experience of STC was only positive with the kits receiving excellent feedback. The junior section has also recently been able to acquire a new sponsor who was wanting to help with the supply of new home and away kits for the club.
“We just found dealing with STC really easy,” said Alex. “The service around the design of the kits was the first thing that stood out and the kits just looked brilliant.”
For the new junior kits, the club plays in its home colours of red but then left the decision of the away kit to the youth team players to vote for. The result? – a new vibrant blue and orange away kit. The club valued the fast turnaround time on the kits, which was only three weeks from confirming designs through to taking delivery.
“STC were just so accommodating during the design stage especially with regard to the changes we wanted to make along the way. They were always quick to respond to any questions or problems and continued to provide new ideas and solutions to make sure we got exactly what we wanted.
