Founded 20 years ago, Lambs Rugby was established to provide representative level rugby for boys of school leaving age who may have previously missed the chance to compete at academy or elite youth level due to lack of selection opportunities.
The club selects from across England with a squad size of around fifty players and competes in nine games per season following the completion of the school match calendar. The season concludes with an annual overseas tour which more recently has seen the squad travel to Dubai, South Africa and Namibia.
Lambs Rugby is a self-funded club run entirely by volunteers all of whom are schoolteachers and set the club up in 2006 for the love of the game and to give as much opportunity for its players to compete in high level rugby.
Whether it is their domestic fixtures or an overseas tour, Lambs Rugby’s distinctive pink playing kit and teamwear is supplied as part of a Kit Partnership with STC which is now in its second season. Rob Robson, Vice President of Lambs Rugby and Tour Manager had heard about STC and got in touch in 2023 to discuss moving over from their existing supplier where they were continuing to see rising costs and delays in supply.
For Rob, the relationship Lambs Rugby has with STC delivers many advantages which benefit both the club and their players.
“Firstly, the players love the kit – we have to stop them giving shirts away when we tour!” said Rob. “However, it is more than just the quality of kit that has made this partnership work.”
The club’s online store is highly valued by Lambs Rugby. With a large squad, making sure all players have kit and teamwear is really easy to organise due to the club’s online store which Rob cites as another way that STC has built a great relationship with their club. Kit can be sourced quickly and is typically despatched within a week of order – a huge advantage for new players or when looking for replacements.
“STC just add that personal touch and take away the hassle of anything to do with our kit and teamwear. Jamie from STC attends some of our matches which is another great example of how the relationship really works and the little things they do which do not go unnoticed.”
